Central Virginia Regional Jail Releases
Central Virginia Regional Jail, commonly called CVRJ, is the primary adult jail serving Fluvanna County. The Central Virginia Regional Jail Authority operates it for Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, and Orange counties. Its location in Orange is essential to a correct search. Fluvanna can be the arresting or court locality while CVRJ in Orange is the custodian that reports the release event.
A person may return to the community after bond, recognizance, a court order, dismissal followed by discharge, time served, or completion of a local sentence. Other departures continue custody. CVRJ may transfer a person to VADOC, another jail, a hospital, court, federal authorities, or ICE. Escape and death can also change a custody status but are not ordinary releases. Ask for the release disposition and destination, not just the time the person left CVRJ.
Fluvanna Releases Occur in Orange
Fluvanna County does not operate a separate adult jail roster for these routine local arrests. CVRJ is in Orange, about 35 road miles from central Palmyra. CVRJ gives no public promise about a standard release hour, weekend timing, transportation home, or pickup location. Court orders still require hold checks, computation, identity review, property processing, and any transfer arrangements. Virginia Code § 53.1-105 contains a return-transport mandate limited to regional jails in Planning Districts Four and Five, and the research does not show that provision applies to CVRJ. Confirm Central Virginia Regional Jail Release
Virginia Jail VINE is the nearest official online status route. It covers local and regional jails throughout Virginia, including CVRJ. The service can report release, transfer, escape, return, and death events based on information from the participating jail. It is person-specific. It is not a public list of all people released during a day or weekend.

- Search by the person’s accurate name or a known offender identifier, then compare all available identifiers.
- Confirm that Central Virginia Regional Jail is the reporting facility. Follow a different facility if the result names one.
- Read the exact custody status, event type, event date, facility, and identifier. A transfer points to continuing custody.
- Call CVRJ at 540-672-3222 when the exact release time, reason, destination, or pickup instruction matters.
- Compare the event with the Fluvanna court disposition, then request the existing release record for durable detail.
A VINE release result supports the status reported by CVRJ. It does not prove that another warrant, detainer, or custodial system is clear. If VADOC commitment is plausible, search the state locator. CVRJ Release Feed Limits
As researched on August 8, 2026, CVRJ published no official current-inmate roster, booking search, 24-hour release list, 72-hour release list, or mugshot gallery. Neither CVRJ nor the Fluvanna County Sheriff had a verified jail app with recent-release or mugshot tools. An absent feed means no feed was found. It does not mean no one was released.
CVRJ instead foregrounds VINE for a named person’s status and alerts. No public CVRJ source promises how quickly an event appears or how long an out-of-custody result remains available. For a defined time range, ask whether CVRJ keeps an existing release log or report. Virginia FOIA does not require the authority to build a new list that its system does not already maintain.
Central Virginia Regional Jail Records
The strongest documentary record joins identity, booking, actual release time, disposition, and destination. A name can match more than one person. A scheduled date is not the same as a completed discharge. Request the part of the jail-management record that resolves both who the event concerns and where custody went next.

Virginia Code § 53.1-116 requires jail records about committed people, their confinement, receipt into jail, and earned-credit policy. The statute supports an operational record, but it does not make every part public or require CVRJ to post it online. Provide the full name, approximate booking date, booking number if known, Fluvanna case number, and a narrow date range. Ask for electronic delivery in the existing format and an advance estimate. Do not ask the office to answer open-ended “why” questions or create a custom narrative.

Request a CVRJ Release Record
Under Virginia Code § 2.2-3704, a request must identify existing records with reasonable specificity. The usual response period is five working days. A public body may produce records, withhold them with a statutory citation, release them in part, say they do not exist, refer the requester when another custodian is known, or invoke a written seven-working-day extension when timely fulfillment is not practical.

The response deadline does not guarantee production in five working days. Charges may reflect actual access, duplication, supplies, and search work. Virginia FOIA’s statutory access class covers Virginia citizens and qualifying media, though an agency may respond more broadly. CVRJ may require a name and legal address.
CVRJ Release and Fluvanna Courts
A Fluvanna court record explains legal authority but does not log the precise CVRJ exit. General District Court handles misdemeanors, bond issues, arraignments, and felony preliminary stages. A felony that proceeds after certification or indictment belongs in Circuit Court for final adjudication. A district entry marked “certified” is not the final case result.
Compare the court’s disposition, sentence, suspended time, and probation terms with the CVRJ event. A dismissal may coexist with another hold. A bond change does not show that bond was posted. Time served can authorize discharge, but CVRJ still must check holds and complete its process. If VINE reports a transfer, search the next agency rather than describing the court result as community freedom.

About Central Virginia Regional Jail
CVRJ is an adult regional jail, not a state prison and not a Fluvanna-operated county jail. It houses people for participating localities and can hold pretrial detainees and people serving local sentences. Fluvanna court and Sheriff records remain with their local owners, while the regional authority owns the records it creates during confinement.
Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women is a separate VADOC institution in Troy. A woman booked at CVRJ does not become a VADOC prisoner merely because a state prison is in the county. VADOC must assume authority. Conversely, a person transferred from CVRJ to VADOC is no longer confirmed through the regional-jail record alone.
CVRJ also maintains a reentry page for its multi-county service area. Those transition resources may help after release, but they are not proof that the person left custody. Confirm the custody event first, then use resources that match the approved destination.
